Lelolai Bakery & Café
is a female and minority-owned business that opened its doors in March 2001 as a retail bakery specializing in Spanish desserts, pastries and other delicacies, including the "Flan."  Its owner, Alma Sapia Alfonzo, began wholesale production of flan in 3oz servings in November 2001.  In April 2002, Mrs. Alfonzo received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Cleveland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  In October 2002 Gourmet Magazine recognized Lelolai Bakery & Café as one of the top 200 restaurants in the nation.”

 

The Cafe's Cuban sandwiches have also been recognized as "the Best Cuban sandwiches in town"  in 2003, 2004 by Scene Magazine.

 

In 2005, Alma Sapia Alfonzo was recognized as a finalist for the Athena Award by the Athena Foundation, and in that same year Alma became the proud recipient of the Athena Powerlink Program by the Athena Foundation.

 

Lelolai Bakery & Cafe is a proud member of Cleveland Originals.

 

Lelolai Bakery & Café has a current Food Service Operator License #11720, Category 4 (i.e., approved for catering and out-of-premises operations), which is issued by The U.S. Department of Health and is renewed yearly.
